Medea è conosciuta come una delle più stor iche e famose aziende Italiane per r icerca e qualità del mobile “Brianzolo”. Fondata nel 1905, iniziò a produr re sedie e poltroncine per i più impor tanti negozi di Milano, collabor ando con architetti come C . Zen e E. Basile , i fondator i del Liber ty Italiano. Medea ha r iprodotto i pezzi stor ici più interessanti di anonimi e importanti nomi del tardo IXX° secolo, ottenendo anche una segnalazione per il premio Compasso d’ Oro. Cominciando dallo stile inglese , ha poi focalizzato l’attenzione sull’ Ar t Nouveau, stile che agli albor i del XX° secolo si sviluppa in var i paesi europei pr ivilegiando il decor ativismo e valor izzando una manualità eclettica in un ar tigianato di qualità, elementi che ancor a oggi vengono mantenuti. Quando il tempo lo permetteva, preferivo ri entrare a piedi. Attraversavo la Città passeggiando per i quartieri del centro, percorrendo viali di tigli fioriti ed incrociando le tate che por tavano i piccoli ai giardini. Viste passeggiando, le cose apparivano ricche di un’esistenza par ticolare . Le fontane lanciavano riflessi nell’aria, mentre i miei passi risuonavano a ritmo pacato sul marciapiede . Ma per quanto allungassi divagando, sapevo che il sapore speciale di quel percorso nasceva dalla mia destinazione . Era il piacere di tornare a Casa.

ROMA - Calano i prezzi, ma il mercato immobiliare stenta a ripar tire . Nel quarto trimestre 2008, secondo il sondaggio congiunturale presso gli agenti immobiliari condotto congiuntamente dalla Banca d’Italia e Tecnoborsa, i prezzi delle case in vendita sono risultati in calo, così come le compravendite . Inoltre , si allungano i tempi necessario a trovare un acquirente per la propria abitazione e le prospettive per il primo trimestre 2009 rimangono «sfavorevoli». Tanto che bisognerà aspettare il prossimo biennio per vedere una ripresa del mercato del mattone .

LA PROVENIENZA DEL LEGNO _Il legno tranciato è ricavato dalla sezionatura dei tronchi degli alberi. Le piantagioni rispettano le norme mondiali per il disboscamento e i tronchi sono soggetti a stagionatura a più cicli per una maggiore resistenza delle fibre.

IL TRATTAMENTO NATURALE _Utilizziamo vernici di finitura magre che evidenziano l’effetto della venatura e valorizzano il poro del legno. Il legno è materia viva, dalla sua “pelle” si riconosce tutto il processo evolutivo della pianta.

LA MANUALITÀ _Le procedure per la lavorazione del legno seguono le antiche tradizioni di falegnameria e i segreti delle maestranze da oltre 50 anni. Le lastre di tranciato sono sempre accompagnate per una maggiore un iformità di vena.Tutte le fodere delle sedute sono dotate di rinforzi in nylon e cordoncino di ribattitura.

IL SENSO DEL LEGNO I nostri prodotti sono avvolti dal legno e la sua vena segue gli andamenti delle superfici senza giunzioni e bordature. E’ il processo a “folding” che l’azienda interpreta da sempre nel campo dei prodotti d’arredo.

LE RISORSE TECNOLOGICHE Produciamo mobili secondo i più alti standard qualitativi industriali per lo sviluppo tecnico della ferramenta e degli assemblaggi. Guide scorrevoli ad estrazione totale, vani cassetti interamente in essenza, ante con triple cerniere per una maggiore tenuta, sono alcune delle soluzioni che vengono applicate di progetto in progetto.

IL SONNO Tutti i letti hanno la possibilità di integrare una rete interamente in legno senza parti metalliche. Unitamente alla proposta dei materassi in lattice naturale possiamo offrire un alto standard nella qualità del dormire.

IL CONTROLLO MANUALE Tutte le giunzioni, le parti di montaggio e i movimenti di apertura e di scorrimento, sono sottoposti a controlli a vista e manuali. Ogni prodotto viene portato a termine con la logica di un manufatto artigianale.

The liberty collection mostly interprets natural themes adding details that transform them into seductive values. The 19th centur y collection instead gathers the artistic tradition and the classic style of late 19th, characterised by the tidy rigorous, but innovative style. The production is the result of a reinterpretation of an English style which represented the New World.

Whenever the weather allowed me , I used to go home on foot. I crossed the city strolling through the down town quar ters, walking through the blossomed lime lined boulevards, meeting nannies and chil dren headed for the park. While walking, things appeared to me as en lighten by a special essence . Fountains sprang reflections in the air, and my footsteps resonated placid on the sidewalk. But much as I lengthened my way wandering around, I knew that the source of the special flvor of that course was the destination itself. It was the pleasure to go Home .

The world of wood

WHERE WOOD COMES FROM _Our timber is obtained by tree trunks section. The plantations respect the worldwide standards relating to deforestation and wood undergoes several seasoning cycles in order to have greater resistance.

NATURAL TREATMENTS _We use thin finishing varnishes to enhance and bring out the visual effect of the grain. Wood is a living material; its “skin” gives witness to the entire evolutionary process of the plant.

CRAFTING THE WOOD _Wood working procedures have been following the ancient traditions of cabinet making and the secrets of skilled craftmanship for more than 50 years. The panels are always matched to give greater uniformity to the grain pattern. All the fabric covers of the chairs are re-enforced in nylon and have strengthened seams.

THE PATTERN OF WOOD Our products are wrapped up in wood and its graining follows the patterns of the surfaces with neither joints nor edging. The process is known as “folding” and we have been leaders in its application in the field of furniture since our inception.

TECHNOLOGICAL RESOURCES We produce furniture in line with the highest industrial standards as to the technical development of metal fittings and assembly. Guide rails that permit drawers to be fully pulled out, drawer units completely in wood, triple - hinged doors for greater strength - these are some of the solutions applied design by design.

THE DESIGN PHILOSOPHY A deep understanding and interpretation of a noble material like wood is combined with modern industrial techniques. This gives rise to the concept of the “industrial craftshop” capable of producing in large numbers and yet respecting the uniqueness of every individual piece.

THE FABRICS The upholstered items are only produced by specialized upholstery craftsmen. The use of pre-washed and anti-allergy fabrics for upholstery with removable covers, full-grain hides dyed in vats – these are just some of the examples of the value-added quality that is indispensable for a product destined to defy time.

SLEEP All the beds can be used with an all-wood slatted base with no metal parts. Our natural foam mattresses offer the sleeper the highest level of comfort.

HAND-CHECKED FOR QUALITY All the joints and the fixtures, as well as the opening, closing and sliding movements, all undergo checking by experts. Every product evolves with the logic of a craftsman’s care.
