Questa collezione, unica nel suo genere, si compone di elementi in extra fine porcellanato bianchissimo dallo spessore estremamente ridotto: solo 2,5 mm per il rivestimento e 4,5 mm per il pavimento, che possono essere posati sull’esistente senza demolizioni e rimozioni, con tutti i vantaggi pratici e ambientali derivanti dall’impiego di una minor quantità di materiale.

In Crete di Pian della Fornace la superficie è satinata e crea un effetto cerato leggermente traslucido; i bordi irregolari, tipici dei manufatti artigianali, sono sagomati in modo da ammorbidire e rendere sinuose le fughe per adattarsi perfettamente ad ogni tipologia abitativa. Come un’elegante carta da parati i decori e le texture finemente rigate consentono di arredare con continuità le superfici più ampie. La collezione è arricchita da elementi colonna e decori in rilievo, che valorizzano i volumi architettonici.

Il progetto NATSTOCER, realizzato da Ceramiche Gardenia Orchidea e co-finanziato dalla Comunità Europea, si propone di industrializzare un nuovo processo per la produzione di piastre innovative naturali simil pietra, che non utilizzi le alte quantità di acqua e di materiali abrasivi utilizzati nel processo produttivo attuale. Ciò comporterà importanti progressi a livello ambientale, nello sfruttamento più efficiente delle materie prime, così come nel consumo di acqua e nella minore produzione di rifiuti.

Il nuovo processo prevede, infatti, l'utilizzo di aria e il riciclo delle polveri di scarto delle materie prime per i processi di finitura superficiale di alcuni materiali per pavimenti e rivestimenti, come piastrelle di ceramica e pietre naturali, permettendo il riciclo dei materiali abrasivi, un notevole risparmio idrico e l'eliminazione di una elevata quantità di fanghi derivanti dal lavoro delle mole con il carburo di silicio, che rendono il rifiuto un rifiuto speciale.

Inoltre, tenendo in considerazione che l'obiettivo del nuovo prodotto è quello di sostituire la pietra naturale, ci si aspetta una riduzione nello sfruttamento di questa risorsa naturale di 15'000 metri cubici per anno.

Gardenia Orchidea introduces Crete di Pian della Fornace, the latest innovation from the Crystal Ker brand: a collection with authentic and timeless appeal which allows rooms to be recreated in a traditional style and to adorn the more modern areas with exclusivity.

This collection, unique in its kind, is made up of elements in extra fine, extremely thin, very white porcelain stoneware: just 2.5 mm for the wall covering and 4.5 mm for the flooring, which can be laid on what is already there without its having to be demolished or removed, with all the practical and environmental advantages resulting from the use of a lesser amount of material.

In Crete di Pian della Fornace, the surface is glazed and creates a slightly translucent waxed effect; the irregular edges, typical of handmade products, are shaped in such a way as to soften and render sinuous the joints thus adapting perfectly to any type of residence. Like elegant wallpaper, the finely lined decorations and textures allow the widest areas to be decorated with continuity. The collection is enriched with column elements and embossed decorations, which enhance the architectural spaces.

Environmental advantages

Like all the other Crystal Kerr collections, the Crete di Pian della Fornace are also created with a revolutionary production process that has brought aesthetics and innovation to eco-sustainability. The 2.5 mm thickness guarantees, in addition in fact to the aesthetic and technical advantages, a considerable reduction in the environmental impact:

2/3 reduction in the raw materials used'

Reduction of the energy used during the production process;

Reduction in materials handling and the resulting atmospheric emissions;

Reduction in shrinkage and waste material in the building sites and therefore of disposal

Reduction of cardboard packaging.

Gardenia, strongly engaged with environmental issues, has joined the "ECO-innovation" project.

The project, presented by Ceramiche Gardenia Orchidea S.p.A., aims to industrialize a new process useful to manufacture the surface of innovative natural stones, like tiles, without using high quantity of water and abrasive with silicon carbide, used in the actual working process.

This will involve important environmental progresses in the efficient exploitation of raw materials, in the water consumption and in waste production.

The new process envisage the dry use of air and powders of raw materials in the surface finishing processes of some materials for floor and covering, as ceramic tiles and natural stones, allowing the recycling of the abrasive materials as raw material, water saving and the elimination of high quantity of sludge deriving from the dump processing with silicon carbide grinding wheels, that make the refuse a special waste.

This project will be developed with the help of the European Community, through the Programme CIP Eco Innovation

The activities which will lead to the plant and the production of the natural-stone-like materials will include six work packages (WP):

The expected results, for an expected production of 500’000 m2/year of natural-stone-like tiles, are the abolition of the production of 500 ton/year of levigation sludge (measured as dried weigth), the reduction of the use of water of 490 ton/year, the full recycling of the produced solid waste up to 165 ton/year, the reduction of energy consumption in finishing from the current 2.38 kWh/m2 to the expected 0.66 kWh/m2 of finished product. The new micro-finishing process will avoid also the use of 200 grinding wheels per year. Considering that the aim of the new product is to substitute natural stone, it is also expected a reduction of this natural resource exploitation of 15’000 cubic meters per year (considering an average thickness of the typical planar product of 30 mm).

Set up of an innovative micro-structured polishing treatment for tiles and natural stones that involve important environmental benefits and improve the technological characteristics of the products;

There will be a saving of 500 ton/year of water and an equivalent reduction in the polluting sludge production;

There will be a saving of raw material in order of 165 ton/year and a reduction of 70% of the energy consumption (0,66 Kwh/m2 instead of 2,38) in its preparation phase;

There will be no longer the need to use about 200 grinding wheels per year;

The development of the project should help to reduce the mining of natural stones and to increase the use of artificial ones, increasing the esthetical effects.
